Historic Downtown | St. Augustine, Florida
Jennifer and Irving had their wedding at the historic Kenwood Inn. This cozy venue with beautiful victorian architecture is actually the oldest bed and breakfast in St. Augustine. Like so many wedding days, this one started with bright sunshine, bustling of getting ready and last minute touches. But what made Jennifer and Irving’s wedding a little more exciting was the fact that his parents didn’t know they were coming to a wedding.
That’s right! Irving’s only request for the wedding was to keep it a secret from his parents. The date was planned around their trip to visit from Puerto Rico, but once the hurricane hit Puerto Rico getting them here and keeping the wedding still a surprise became difficult. They almost weren’t going to be able to get off the island. That morning, I knew I wanted to capture this unique reveal without being in the way. Sam went across the street and I sat on the porch on the Kenwood Inn waiting – trying to look like any other St. Augustine tourist with a camera. When his parents arrived, they thought they were just going to a nice dinner, but were greeted by a nervous Irving. He surprised them with the good news and asked his dad to be his best man (queue the waterworks).
The rest of the day was just as sweet and full of emotion. Everyone from childhood friends to out-of-town relatives danced and shared stories about the couple. What started as a brief encounter, ended up turning into a story of absolute true love. My wish for them is that every day is full of love and laughter.
